Development and future

The Road Research Register was developed by ARRB Group as an Austroads project in 2007-2008, officially launched in July 2009, and maintained with the funding support of the National Interest Services (NIS) program.

The majority of information currently in the Register has been sourced from Austroads and Australasian road authorities, with some additions from the academic and private sector.

The currency of the Register is dependent on information from contributors, plus the efforts of ARRB library staff to scan the research space for new material. The library is mindful that Austroads has now moved to present information about Austroads-funded projects on its website, and there has been a steady decrease in the number of contributions from road based organisations.

Consequently ARRB library is seeking to complement the Register with an alternative forum to highlight current road research and has set up the NIS LinkedIn Group.
